Hardware wallets allow you to store cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin on a separate medium. This is also referred to as cold storage. Unlike hot storage, hardware wallets are not permanently connected to the internet and are therefore exposed to fewer security risks. The general recommendation for investors is to refrain from storing cryptocurrencies on a hot wallet at a crypto exchange. Instead, you should store them on a hardware wallet and only transfer them to a crypto exchange or lending platform when needed.
